Injury time winner for Vixens.
At half time the Vixens were two up but Manchester City hit us hard in the second half and could have gone on to win after they pulled level with 15 minutes to go.
Emily Heckler secured the 3 points in injury time with a much celebrated goal.

Vixens 2 v 6 Newcastle |
|
Wednesday 2nd September 2009 |
Floodlit screamer!
The Vixens slipped from the top of the table this evening after a rare midweek evening league match against Newcastle United. They were three down by half time and despite Ruth hitting a screamer free kick from 40 metres out high into the net and Stacey scoring our other goal Newcastle won 6 - 2.

Vixens 1 v 5 Liverpool |
|
Sunday 6th September 2009 |
With Laura away on holiday and Maganne failing a fitness test after coming off in the first half on Wednesday night it was never going to be easy against league leaders and former premiership side Liverpool. Within a minute we had conceded a penalty and were one down. Further chances were rare in the first half for either side.
The Vixens were quickly into gear for the second half with Emma quickly equalising with a breakaway goal and Stacey nearly taking us into the lead, Only for Liverpool to answer back almost immediately. Further chances were squandered as Liverpool built upon their lead. A couple of late goals somewhat flattered the scoreline for Liverpool and the frustration was clear to see at the end of the match.
Vixens beat the offside trap.

Goals from Dobby and Ruth (penalty) together with 2 from Meg produced our first back-to-back wins since August.
Avenging our defeat earlier in the season, The Vixens started well and were 3 - 1 up by half-time. Next week we travel to Curzon hoping to do the same...

Great battle at bracken edge.
Goaless at half-time we knew Manchester City would come back at us in the second half. However the Vixens were to dominate most of the second half and went ahead early in the half with a stacy lob over the keeper. A second Vixens goal was disallowed after the referee spotted an infringement although neither side could see what for! Ruth was booked after complaining vociferously. Just as in our last meeting Manchester City fought back eventually equalising in the 93rd minute but unfortunately this time there was no time left for us to score the winner.

The Vixens kicked off their FA Women's Cup campaign against fellow Northern Premier League opponents Manchester City.
We have had a couple of great matches against them already this year
30th August 2009
22nd November 2009
and this was another close fought match...
Manchester City were down to ten men after a straight red card in the first half. The Vixens capitalised on this decision in the second half when Stacey scored the only goal of the match slotting it past the Manchester keeper to ensure a visit to Nottingham Forest Ladies on the 10th January 2010 in the next round.
|
After a 3rd round victory over Manchester City the Vixens stepped up a league for their 4th round tie against Nottingham Forest Ladies from the Women's Premier League.
It is four years since the Vixens were last in the fourth round. v Aston Villa 8th January 2006 and the Vixens put in a commanding performance against Nottingham for most of the match to lead 2 - 0 with less than twenty minutes remaining. However a lucky lob and a dubious penalty decision, duly converted, affected the girls who then failed to stop a winner from Nottingham in the final minutes.
